Universal D100 Approach
Travelogue uses a simple d100 for all Tests. This keeps the focus on narrative, making modifiers and math simple so that you can focus on the fun part of the game: playing! The whole experience is based around the use of Skills to interact with the world around the players. From combat to conversation, from magic to engineering, everything is approached with the same d100 mechanic. Our system is easy to learn but with immense depth for character expression and adaptability.
Obstacle System
Rather than having one system for monsters, another for NPCs, and another for traps and hazards, Travelogue keeps things approachable for the GM with the Obstacle system. As the name suggests, any kind of obstacle to the party's progress is handled with the same kind of stat block. This means that it is easy for the GM to create new Obstacles on-the-fly while ensuring that both ad hoc Obstacles and ones generated in advance maintain an enjoyable depth. Obstacles have a Name, Level, Keywords, Description, Modifiers and Abilities, that define their purpose and how the party might interact with them. This method is intuitive, and gives the GM a huge variety of ways to express the uniqueness of each enemy or system the party might encounter.
Character Expression
One of the keys to a fun and enjoyable role-playing experience is the ability to truly play the role that you have decided on. Our Skills-forward system has Specializations as another way to let players shape their characters exactly the way they would like. Specializations allow you to choose a specific subset of a Skill for your character to have a particular interest in, such as Precolumbian Mesoamerica for a History Skill or Plasma Engines for an Engineering Skill. These Specializations allow you re-rolls when you interact with them, letting characters with similar Skills have interesting ways to express their uniqueness.

Creating a great time around the table with the story-telling of adventures is absolutely vital, and we have a guide to creating your own amazing worlds in the Game Master Core. We provide direction both on the adventure itself and on the meta-experience around the table, like lines and veils to create a comfortable environment for everyone.
We aren't just here with amazing core rules, though. We also provide pre-made settings and adventures for you to take your party through. From the edges of civilization in the far future of Underworld Sky to the swords and sorcery of the mythical Splendorous Cities, we have something to appeal to everyone. And we know it can be challenging to get a group together to try out a new system, so in addition to freely available Core Rules, we have something else to give you a helping hand...

All of our setting Player Guides and Character Sheets are released for free. These documents provide all of the information that your party will need to create their characters and understand their place in the setting, all freely available. Your players will be able to join in easily, all they will need is a link!
